9:08 am - attempts at life
|
some things I want to do:
1. reiki training. 2. take an anatomy and physiology class. whatever I do next in my life will probably require that class. 3. go to graduate school for some type of (natural) healing discipline. possibly even physical therapy. 4. take a vacation somewhere that's not New England. 5. expand and develop my spiritual practice. 6. get a place of my own. 7. become financially independent again. 8. lose enough weight to protect my joints from stress (about 40 lbs). 9. get involved in the community with some sort of interesting volunteer work. 10. improve my physical health. 11. record music. 12. produce more art. 13. listen to lots of new music. 14. meet local friends. 15. start going on dates again. 16. improve my self-esteem. 17. grow my hair long. 18. maintain healthy eating habits. 19. be more assertive in my day-to-day life. 20. read more books.

11:17 am - poking the bear
|
I have a ridiculous amount of social inertia.
What is it going to take to pry me out of my house, I wonder? Do we need to do a ritual involving animal sacrifice? Seriously.
I think I've become a bit socially retarded in the past year, too. Meeting new people isn't as easy as it used to be for me, since I've been hermiting all this time. There's definitely an element of social anxiety. I can only hope folks will be patient with me until I get comfortable---it doesn't take that long, really.

2:30 pm - I have lovely new clothes and shoes.
|
(Yes, I realize I'm really poor right now, but I felt like this was something I needed to do.)
I made a Lands End order the other day which yielded a black corduroy jacket, black slip-on suede casual shoes, ridiculously soft cotton fleece pants, and a SOFT pinky plaid flannel.
There were two items I ordered which were far too big for me, and a pair of green sandals that didn't agree with my toes. So I'll be returning those items and getting a full refund.
Everything I ordered came from the overstocks section of the web catalogue, so the items were inexpensive considering their quality.
I'm wearing lunar colors today---light blue and gray. According to an LJ friend of mine, these colors reduce the amount of interference in your life from the universe when you wear them. I'm also wearing hematite and amethyst bead bracelets for grounding and emotional healing. Yes, I'm becoming rather woo-woo...a certain amount of spirituality is necessary for maintenance of my sanity. I'm okay with this.

3:22 am - fresh start?
|
I like the idea of having a journal with no karma. My livejournal is full of intense inner turmoil and drama. Maybe I can get away from that here? Who knows.
Today's topic is pain management. Physical pain, that is. I've been having flare-ups of what feels an awful lot like what people describe with fibromyalgia. So I'm going to call my doctor today (during business hours, not at 3am) and ask to be screened for that condition. Basically, the screening involves a doctor pressing a bunch of points on your body. If 12 out of 18 of the points hurt when pressed, then bam! you've got fibro. Seems a bit odd, but who am I to question the medical profession, ay?
I'm trying to lay off the tramadol and just treat the pain using NSAIDs. Obviously, I don't want to be stuck taking something habit-forming on a regular basis for pain. Topical treatments are of interest as well---I bought some Aspercreme today, and am seeing how that works, since I'm sick of the smell of Ben-gay. I've been hearing reports of people poisoning themselves with overuse of Ben-gay, and I'm hoping not to do this with the Aspercreme, but youch!
Gotta go, it's hurting my hands and wrists to type. Must treat pain with actual pills, it seems. Wish me luck!
